Title: Early Warning Reporting Regulations 
Abstract:

This proposed rule would amend certain provisions of the early warning reporting (EWR) rule. The EWR rule requires certain manufacturers of motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment to submit information to NHTSA. 49 CFR part 579, subpart C. The proposed amendments would implement changes in the scope, scale, formats and methods of EWR data collection to enhance the Agency's ability to identify safety defects more quickly and reliably. The proposed amendments were identified in a study of EWR data collection improvements that was required by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, enacted on November 15, 2021.
