| Title: ●Response to Petitions for Reconsideration, FMVSS No. 210, Seat Belt Anchorages | |
|
Abstract:
This rulemaking would respond to a petition for reconsideration of a September 2024 final rule amending the procedures for testing the strength of seat belt anchorages in FMVSS No. 210, Seat belt assembly anchorages. The final rule clarified the positioning of the test device specified in the standard and added an optional test device (and corresponding test procedures) as a certification alternative. NHTSA received a petition for reconsideration from the Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association (EMA) requesting a longer lead time for heavy-duty vehicles to comply with the FMVSS No. 210 amended requirements. |
