| Title: ●Modernization of FMVSS No. 126, Electronic Stability Control Systems for Light Vehicles, to Accommodate ADS-Equipped Vehicles. | |
|
Abstract:
This FMVSS assumes the presence of a human driver using a steering wheel, referring to the driver in the definition of Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system and to the steering wheel angle in the test procedure. This modernization will address the requirements for vehicles equipped with Automated Driving Systems (ADS) that lack manually operated driving controls. The changes will maintain the level of safety performance currently required by the standard, including the stability and responsiveness criteria for ESC performance. |
