| Abstract: This rulemaking will amend 49 CFR Part 213 to require all Class I and II railroads, as well as intercity passenger railroad and commuter railroads, to conduct track inspections using ATI technology, specifically a track geometry measurement system on specific track. These systems take precise measurements of the track geometry, either while installed on a dedicated self-propelled vehicle or on a car in a train consist and can detect defects that may be missed by the human eye. | |
