Abstract:
This rulemaking is intended to amend 49 CFR Part 227 (Part 227) to extend the compliance dates established in the Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus Standards final rule (89 Fed. Reg. 5113 (Jan. 26, 2024)) (final rule), in response to a joint petition for reconsideration submitted by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) and the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA). Specifically, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) is extending the deadlines for Class I, II, and III railroads to comply with the requirements in Part 227, Subpart C (Subpart) by one year.
