| Title: ●Signal Employee Certification | |
|
Abstract:
This rulemaking is proposing to amend 49 CFR Part 246 to extend certain compliance dates in the rule in response to petitions for reconsideration submitted by various organizations. Specifically, this rulemaking proposes to extend the deadline for railroads to submit their certification programs to FRA by one year. It also proposes to extend, by one year, the date by which all railroads must designate in writing all individuals they have authorized to perform the duties of a certified signal employee and issue certificates to such individuals. In addition, the rulemaking would seek comments from the public on the issues raised in the petitions for reconsideration. These comments will help FRA decide whether it should make further changes to the rule. |
