| Title: Bus Testing: Updating Testing Procedures | |
| Abstract: This rulemaking would amend FTA´s bus testing procedures to more accurately reflect passenger loads by updating the average passenger weight to incorporate recent statistical data. This action would affect those transit bus manufacturers who may need to upgrade vehicle components or modify vehicle configurations to better accommodate heavier weight loads. FTA notes that any cost increase due to a transit agency's decision to upgrade components would be offset by FTA's financial assistance program which covers at least 80% of a vehicle's capital costs, minimizing any economic impact of this rulemaking on public transit vehicles manufacturers and their customers. | |
