Title: Revocation of the 30-Day Notification Requirement Prior to Termination of Lease for Nonpayment of Rent (FR-6529)
Abstract:

This proposed rule would revoke the 2021 interim final rule (86 FR 55693) and 2024 final rule (89 FR 101270) requiring 30 day notification prior to termination of lease for nonpayment of rent. This requirement was put in place for public housing agencies (PHAs) and owners of properties receiving project-based rental assistance (PBRA) and is now being removed. This rule would also remove requirements to include certain information in termination notices. Notice of termination would return to pre-2021 requirements which range from 5 days to 30 days for HUD programs and depend on the state and local laws.
