Title: Roof Truss Testing Procedure Updates to the Manufactured Housing Construction and Safety Standard (FR-5222) 
Abstract: This final rule will amend the Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards by adopting recommendations made to HUD by the Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee (MHCC). The MHCC prepared and submitted to HUD its second group of recommendations to improve various aspects of the Construction and Safety Standards, including to the existing truss testing procedures, in 2003. These recommendations were included in a proposed rule to amend the Construction and Safety Standards, which HUD published December 1, 2004 (69 FR 70016). In response to public comments on the 2004 proposed rule, HUD returned the proposal on truss testing to the MHCC for further consideration. After deliberation, the MHCC submitted an amended version of its 2003 proposal to HUD for review. After modifying certain of MHCC’s recommendations, HUD published its proposed rule and is soliciting comments on both MHCC’s recommendation as submitted to HUD, and HUD’s modification of MHCC recommendation, before issuing truss testing procedures for effect.
