| Title: Sensori-Neural Aids | |
| Abstract: This document amends Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical regulations concerning sensori-neural aids. 38 CFR section 17.149 authorizes VA to provide sensori-neural aids (i.e., eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids) to seven groups of veterans as identified in the regulation in section 17.149, paragraphs (b)(1)-(b)(7). The veterans presently identified in section 17.149, paragraph (b)(2), are veterans who are former prisoners of war. Section 17.149, paragraph (b)(2), will be revised to include veterans who were awarded the Purple Heart. It will also note that the authority for this regulation, previously identified as 38 U.S.C. 1701(6)(A)(i), has been recodified as 38 U.S.C. 1707 pursuant to Public Law No. 107-135. | |
