| Title: ●Copayments for Medications Beginning January 1, 2012 | |
| Abstract: The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) proposes to amend its regulations concerning copayments charged to certain veterans for medication required on an outpatient basis to treat non-service connected conditions. VA currently charges non-exempt veterans either $8 or $9 for each 30-day or less supply of medication, and beginning January 1, 2012, a calculation will be used to determine the copayment amount. This rulemaking would lower the copayment amount after January 1, 2012, to $3 for a 30-day supply of certain medications. The medications that would qualify for the reduced rate will be determined by a number of factors designed to create the best health impact on the veteran population, while considering VA's limited resources. | |
