VA RIN: 2900-AP41 Publication ID: Fall 2016
Title: Criteria for a Catastrophically Disabled Determination of Deafness for Purposes of Enrollment
Abstract:

After careful consideration, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has determined that it must request appropriations in the upcoming budget process before moving forward with this regulation. This regulation will be withdrawn from the Fall 2016 Unified Agenda.  The VA proposes to make technical amendments to its medical regulations by adding deafness as a disability that VA would consider a catastrophic disability for purposes of enrollment in VA health care. We would also rescind a medical regulation that deals with VA providing a veteran devices to assist in overcoming deafness because the regulation is outdated and no longer reflects current VA policy.
