Title: Corded Window Covering Products
Abstract: Currently, the Commission addresses the risk of injury associated with certain corded window covering products by recall and is considering whether to propose a rule to address this hazard. Strangulations can occur with certain corded window covering products when a child places his/her neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the blind or when a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around his/her neck. With certain roll-up blinds, strangulations can occur if the lifting loops slide off the side of the blind and a child's neck becomes entangled on the freestanding loop or if a child places his/her neck between the lifting loop and the roll-up blind material. Staff will prepare a briefing package for Commission consideration of whether a rule is the appropriate mechanism to address this hazard.
