| Title: Third Party Accreditation for Testing of Toys | |
| Abstract: Section 102 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA), Public Law 110-314, 122 Stat. 3016 (August 14, 2008), mandates that third party testing be conducted for certain children's products. Section 102 of the CPSIA also directs the Commission to publish a notice of requirements for accreditation of third party conformity assessment bodies (laboratories) to assess conformity with such children's product safety rules. The Commission will initiate a process to establish the requirements that third party conformity assessment bodies must meet for Commission acceptance of accreditation for testing according to ASTM F963, Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety. Staff is preparing a briefing package for Commission consideration. | |
