Abstract:
On December 29, 2022, President Biden signed H.R. 2617 Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023. This legislation included STURDY, section 201. Consumer Product Safety Standard to Protect Against Tip-Over of Clothing Storage Units. STURDY directs CPSC to, not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment: (1) examine and assess the effectiveness of any voluntary consumer product safety standards for clothing storage units; and (2) promulgate a final consumer product safety standard for clothing storage units to protect children from tip-over-related death or injury. STURDY contains specific requirements related to clothing storage units. Staff will send a briefing package to the Commission in fiscal year 2023. |
