Title: Framework for Next Generation 911 Deployment (PS Docket Nos. 10-255 and 11-153) 
Abstract:

The proceeding addresses how Next Generation 911 (NG911) can enable the public to obtain emergency assistance by means of advanced communications technologies beyond traditional voice-centric devices. This action seeks to gain a better understanding of how the gap between the capabilities of modern networks and devices and today's 911 system can be bridged, and seeks comment on how to further the transition to IP-based communications capabilities for emergency communications and NG911. The proceeding also includes Commission actions to implement text-to-911 service, thereby enabling the public to send text messages to 911 dispatchers.
