| Title: Preserving Vacant Channels in the UHF Television Band for Unlicensed Use; (MB Docket No. 15-68) | |
|
Abstract:
In this proceeding, the Commission considers proposals to preserve vacant television channels in the UHF television band for shared use by white space devices and wireless microphones following the repacking of the band after the conclusion of the Incentive Auction. In the NPRM, the Commission proposed preserving in each area of the country at least one vacant television channel. In the Public Notice, the Commission notes that a limited number of broadcast television stations may be reassigned during the incentive auction and repacking process to channels within the duplex gap established as part of the 600 MHz Band Plan, resulting in a restriction on the ability of white space devices and wireless microphone to use this spectrum. To address this concern, the Public Notice tentatively concluded that a second available television channel should be preserved in the remaining television band in such areas for shared use by white space devices and wireless microphones, in addition to the one such channel proposed in the NPRM. |
