Abstract:

Rule Description - 36 CFR 1256 deals with public access (i.e., researchers/FOIA) to materials containing national security-classified information. This regulation predates current authority on Classified National Security Information (EO 13526). NARA proposes to revise this regulation to ensure that it is consistent with the current authority. EO 14219 Justification - Regulation predates current authority on Classified National Security Information (EO 13526) and an update is required to ensure the processes are consistent with the current authority.
