On March 19, 2015, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to revise 49 CFR part 845, which contains rules of procedure applicable to the issuance of NTSB investigation reports, as well as rules regarding procedures for Board meetings and hearings. The revisions will update various terms and other outdated information; reorganize the part to ensure reports, meetings, hearings, and other major items exist in an appropriate subpart; and describe the procedure for issuing reports, and holding Board events (such as meetings, forums, symposiums, and hearings) in a more accurate manner than the descriptions contained in the current version of part 845. The NTSB received five comments in response to the NPRM. The final rule will discuss these comments and finalize the proposed changes.
