| Title: Approach to Risk-Inform, Performance-Base Requirements for Nuclear Power Plants [NRC-2006-0008] | |
| Abstract: The advanced notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) would provide a new set of risk-informed, performance-based requirements for nuclear power plants. The Commission approved the staff's recommendation to defer rulemaking for risk-informed and performance-based part 50 reactor requirements for advanced reactors until after the development of the licensing strategy for non-light water reactor designs. The staff informed the Commission that it will defer rulemaking until after non-light water reactor licensing test review (approximately 2015-2017). Additionally, there are a number of risk-informed initiatives ongoing that may possibly result in a rulemaking activity, in which case the staff may issue an ANPRM on this rule. | |
