OPM RIN: 3206-AL91 Publication ID: Spring 2011
Title: Absence and Leave; Sick Leave
Abstract: The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) issued final regulations to implement the use of sick leave for a family member exposed to a communicable disease that would jeopardize the health of others and to expand the use of advance sick leave. The final regulation also implemented the sick leave portions of the NDAA for FY 2010 (Pub.L. 111-84, October 28, 2009) that amended the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provisions in 5 U.S.C. 6381-6383 to allow an employee to substitute up to 26 weeks of sick leave for unpaid FMLA leave when caring for a covered service member injured in the line of duty while on active duty. The FMLA portion of the proposed regulation has been separated and will be addressed under RIN 3206-AM12.
