Abstract:
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) issued a final rule amending 5 CFR parts 831, 838, and 842 and adding part 848 to implement the phased retirement provisions of section 100121 of Public Law 112-141 the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act or MAP-21 enacted on July 6 2012. This regulatory change was needed to allow a retirement-eligible employee who has been employed on a full-time basis for not less than the 3-year period immediately prior to phased retirement to elect with the concurrence of the head of the employing agency to enter phased retirement. |
