SSS is proposing to amend and update its regulations in Part 1660 related to internal and external process and procedures related to registration, classifications and alternative service consistent with the Military Selective Service Act, 50 U.S.C. chapter 49.  

The intent is to improve efficiency and effectiveness in which the public is affected.  We want to remove outdated language, update current processes (including modernization of current technologies, i.e., no paper), and update classifications for better organization and tracking of inductees. 

As the SSS improves its regulations, we will seek to increase participation and engagement with members of the public affected by our regulations, including in the development of our regulatory priorities. Throughout our external engagement with the public, the SSS seeks and welcomes comments from members of the public who have not typically participated in the regulatory process, including families of males required to register and all others impacted by the SSS regulations.
