Title: 1998 Harmonization of Hazardous Materials Regulations with International Standards
Abstract: This rulemaking is an ongoing effort to maintain harmonization of the Hazardous Materials Regulations with international standards. The last completed final rule to maintain alignment with corresponding provisions of international standards was issued by RSPA on May 7, 1997 (Docket HM-215B; 62 FR 24690) RIN 2127-AC82. ^PBecause of recent changes to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, the International Civil Aviation Organization's Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air and the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UN Recommendations), these proposed revisions are necessary to facilitate the transport of hazardous materials in international commerce.
