Title: Safeguarding Customer Information 
Abstract: OTS, the other banking agencies, the SEC, and FTC have issued final rules governing a financial institution's ability to disclose nonpublic personal information about consumers to nonaffiliated third parties. The rules implement title V, subtitle A, of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). Pursuant to sections 501 and 505(b) of GLBA, the banking agencies have issued a notice of proposed rulemaking seeking comment on proposed guidelines establishing standards for safeguarding customer information.
