Abstract: Section 14(d)(1) of the Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA), as added by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008, requires the Commission to establish "requirements for the periodic audit of third party conformity assessment bodies as a condition for the continuing accreditation of such conformity assessment bodies" under section 14(a)(3)(C) of the CPSA. On July 31, 2009, the Commission voted unanimously to issue a proposed rule with changes for publication in the Federal Register.
