Title: ●James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 | |
Abstract: On January 2, 2011, President Obama signed into law the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 (Pub. L. 111-347) Title I established a program within the Department of Health and Human Services to provide medical monitoring and treatment benefits to eligible individuals. Title II reactivated the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001 (the Fund) and required the Attorney General to appoint a Special Master to adjudicate claims brought by individuals (or their personal representative) who were sufficiently close to the crash sites and suffered physical harm or death as a result. Regulations funding the Fund must be promulgated by July 1, 2011, and the program will begin accepting claims thereafter. | |
