Title: ●Energy Efficiency Test Procedures for Commercial and Industrial Gas Compressors | |
Abstract:
DOE is in the process of considering setting energy conservation standards for commercial and industrial natural gas compressors under part A-1 of title III of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), as amended, under RIN 1904-AD40. DOE understands that air compressors and natural gas compressors are different types of equipment serving different markets. For example, air compressors are largely used in manufacturing and packaging operations and often driven by 10 to 500 horsepower electric motors; but natural gas compressors are used to transport natural gas from drilling fields to customers (e.g., power plants and utilities) via cross-country pipelines and are often driven by natural gas-fueled engines rated in thousands of horsepower. In view of the above, DOE is considering establishing test procedures for commercial and industrial gas compressors under 42 U.S.C. 6314. |
