Title: ●Amendment 26 to the Fishery Management Plan for Coastal Migratory Pelagic Resources of the Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic
Abstract: This rule would modify the management/stock boundary for Gulf and Atlantic migratory groups of king mackerel; update the biological reference points and revise the acceptable biological catch, optimum yield, annual catch limits, and annual catch targets for Gulf and Atlantic migratory group king mackerel; create an incidental catch allowance of Atlantic migratory group king mackerel caught in the shark gillnet fishery; establish split season commercial quotas and a trip limit system for the Atlantic Southern Zone; revise the commercial quotas for Gulf zones; and modify the recreational bag limit for Gulf migratory group king mackerel. This amendment is necessary to ensure annual catch limits are based on the best scientific information available and to ensure overfishing does not occur in the coastal migratory pelagics fishery, while increasing social and economic benefits of the coastal migratory pelagics fishery through sustainable and profitable harvest of king mackerel in accordance with provisions set forth in the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act.
