Title: Energy Conservation Standards for Miscellaneous Refrigeration Products | |
Abstract:
DOE is considering conducting a rulemaking to establish definitions and set standards for residential wine chillers and similar products. Because of the operational differences between refrigerators that are already covered by the statutory framework laid out by the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975, as amended, and other refrigeration products, such as wine chillers, DOE is weighing the possibility of setting standards for these other refrigeration products. On April 1, 2015, DOE published a notice announcing its intention to establish a negotiated rulemaking working group under the Appliance Standards Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ASRAC) to negotiate energy conservation standards for such refrigeration products (80 FR 17355). DOE has since created a working group of interested parties to develop a series of recommended energy conservation standards for these products. This effort resulted in a negotiated Term Sheet containing a series of recommended standards and other related recommendations that were submitted to ASRAC for approval and, subsequently, to DOE for action. |
