Title: Delay or Amend Final Rule Amending Claims Procedure Regulation 
Abstract:

On December 19, 2016, the Department published a final rule amending 29 CFR 2560.503-1.  These amendments revised existing rules under section 503 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) governing disability benefit claims and appeals under ERISA-covered plans (81 FR 92316).  The amendments were effective on January 18, 2017, but only to claims for disability benefits filed on or after January 1, 2018.  The Department is reviewing these amendments for questions of law and policy.
