Title: Department of Labor Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Catch-Up Adjustments 
Abstract:

The Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015, enacted November 2, 2015, as section 701 of the Bipartisan Budget Act, updates the process by which agencies adjust applicable civil monetary penalties for inflation to retain the deterrent effect of those penalties. Agencies were required to make a catch-up adjustment for civil monetary penalties with the new penalty levels by publishing an Interim Final Rule by July 1, 2016, to take effect no later than August 1, 2016.
