Title: ●Collection of Biometric Data Upon Entry to and Exit From the United States | |
Abstract:
Executive Order 13780, Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States, requires the Secretary to expedite the completion and implementation of a biometric entry-exit tracking system for all travelers to the United States. This rule proposes to amend CBP’s regulations to allow for a nationwide biometric exit program at all ports of entry and to collect biometrics from an expanded scope of persons upon entry to and exit from the United States. This proposed rule enhances national security by allowing CBP to confirm with greater assurance the identity of persons departing the United States and whether an alien has overstayed the terms of his or her visa (or other authorization to be present in the United States).
