Title: ●Heavy Vehicle ESC Reconsideration | |
Abstract:
This action would amend the final rule for FMVSS No. 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems for Heavy Vehicles," by granting a petition for reconsideration filed by the Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association (EMA) requesting that the agency allow a larger lane width to be used for testing truck tractors with long wheelbases as a way to simplify compliance with the testing requirements. NHTSA already allowed a larger lane width for buses in its June 2015 final rule, and EMA's requested change would make the lane width used for long wheelbase truck tractors identical to the width used for testing buses. |
