Title: Fees for Commodity Inspection Services (Excluding Rice) - 580 Program | |
Abstract:
The Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) is proposing to revise the fees for sampling, inspection, weighing, and certification of processed and graded commodities (other than rice) performed under the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 (AMA), as amended. The AMA provides GIPSA’s Federal Grain Inspection Service with the authority to charge and collect reasonable fees to cover the cost of performing official services and costs associated with managing the program. Additionally, GIPSA is proposing to revise two definitions in the regulations such that private agencies providing official services under the AMA would be considered cooperators and revise inspection licenses to terminate every five years instead of every three years. Given current data, this action is expected to increase fees by approximately five percent for fiscal year 2018. |
