Title: Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) | |
Abstract:
This final rule will establish the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) and provides guidance and prescribes procedures for identifying a family member with special needs, and coordinating travel at government expense for family members of active-duty service members who meet the DoD criteria for identifying a family member with special needs. This final rule will also prescribe procedures for processing DoD civilian employees who have family members with special needs for an overseas assignment and providing family support services. Since the expansion of the EFMP in 2010, the Department has continuously provided much-needed services to military and civilian employee (in overseas locations) families with special needs members, and has been required to collect and document certain information to ensure that proper care is being provided to those family members. |
