DOD/OS RIN: 0790-AJ37 Publication ID: Spring 2018
Title: Identification (ID) Cards for Members of the Uniformed Services, Their Dependents, and Other Eligible Individuals (Adding Subpart D)
Abstract:

ID cards are issued to uniformed service members, their dependents, and other eligible individuals and are used as proof of identity and DoD affiliation and to facilitate the extension of benefits. This rule finalizes updates to the CFR, addresses eligibility documentation requirements, and documentation requirements for the correction of Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) records, and updates the part to reflect NIST Federal Information Processing Standards.

The burden imposed on members of the public is the information collection required by the part, the time required to complete the DD Form 1172-2. This collection was recertified with OMB in March, at which time DoD achieved a reduction in cost burden. Greater accuracy in the average hourly wage of respondents resulted in a $4,836,000.00 decrease in the cost burden.
