Title: ●Nondiscrimination in Health Programs or Activities  
Abstract:

The proposed rule implements Section 1557 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability under any health program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance, or under any program or activity that is administered by the Department of Health and Human Services or by an entity established under title I of the PPACA. The proposed rule applies the enforcement mechanisms provided for and available under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. 2000d et seq.), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. 1681 et seq.), the Age Discrimination Act of 1975 (42 U.S.C. 6101 et seq.), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. 794).
