Title: ●Air Quality: Revision to Definition of Volatile Organic Compounds--Exclusion of Methyl-Perfluoroheptene-Ethers (MPHE)
Abstract:

This proposed action would, if finalized, revise EPA's definition of volatile organic compounds (VOC) for purposes of preparing State Implementation Plans (SIPs) to attain the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for ozone. If finalized, the action would add methyl-perfluoroheptene-ethers (also known as MPHE) to the list of compounds excluded from the definition of VOC on the basis that this compound makes a negligible contribution to tropospheric ozone formation. The VOC exemption petition was submitted by the Chemours Chemical Company in August 2015. This proposed action reduces burden because it relieves the industry from characterizing and tracking certain information associated with this particular compound.
