Title: Reactor Vessel Material Surveillance Program Requirements (Appendix H) [NRC-2017-0151]
Abstract:

This rulemaking would amend the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) regulations in 10 CFR part 50, appendix H, for specimens to be tested and included in reactor vessel surveillance capsules. The rulemaking would also amend the requirements for Integrated Surveillance Programs to cover small modular reactors and other new technologies, as well as the requirements for the submittal of surveillance capsule reports. As a result, regulatory burden would be reduced because licensees would expend fewer resources and occupational doses lowered to prepare and test specimens. Also, licensees would expend fewer resources to prepare capsule reports and requests to extend the period for submitting reports to the NRC. There would also be a burden reduction to the NRC to review and process the extension requests.
