Title: ●International Fisheries; Pacific Tuna Fisheries; 2019-2020 Commercial Fishing Restrictions for Pacific Bluefin Tuna in the Eastern Pacific Ocean
Abstract: The Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission, to which the United States is a member, is expected to adopt a binding resolution in 2018 which will likely include a commercial Pacific bluefin tuna catch limit for the United States applicable to 2019 and 2020, as well as perhaps 2021. Similar catch limits have been in place since 2015. Pacific bluefin tuna is severely overfished throughout the Pacific Ocean, and commercial catch limits are necessary to aid in rebuilding of the stock. This rulemaking would implement that action, if adopted at the Commission.
