Title: Certifications and Exemptions Under the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972 | |
Abstract:
The final rule removes 32 CFR part 706 which describes the Navy’s authority and purpose for certifying alternate compliance with the navigation lights provisions of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS) and notifies the public which U.S. Navy vessels do not comply with the COLREGS as well as how the vessel does not comply. The original text of 32 CFR 706 was published at 42 FR 36434 on July 14, 1977, and the part has been updated several times to remove the names of vessels no longer in active naval service. The Navy will continue to comply with 33 U.S.C. 1605 and Executive Order 11964 of January 19, 1977, which require publication of this information in the Federal Register as a notice document. |
