Title: FMVSS No. 124, Accelerator Control Systems Upgrade | |
Abstract:
NHTSA withdraws its April 16, 2012, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM). The NPRM proposed a Brake-Throttle Override (BTO) requirement. However, since all vehicle manufacturers now have equipped their U.S. vehicles with this technology, a BTO requirement is not needed. Another proposed change was to update the requirements and test procedures in FMVSS No. 124 to address failures of electronic throttle controls (ETC). However, analysis of ETCs, and other types of electronic vehicle components, is an ongoing focus of the agency. |
