Title: Interim 2019 Tribal Pacific Whiting Allocation and Require Consideration of Chinook Salmon Bycatch Before Reapportioning Tribal Whiting; Pacific Coast Groundfish | |
Abstract:
NMFS issued a final rule for the tribal Pacific whiting (whiting) fishery off the coast of Washington State. The purpose is to establish an interim 2019 tribal whiting allocation, and to protect ESA-listed Chinook salmon, as required in the Terms and Conditions of a December 11, 2017, Biological Opinion. NMFS developed this rule after discussions with the affected tribes and the non-tribal fisheries interests. As in prior years, this allocation is an "interim" allocation that is not intended to set precedent for future years. |
