Abstract:
This final rule removes the Department of the Navy regulation containing internal policies on the payment of death gratuities. The rule, originally published on September 18, 1959 (24 FR 7523), and most recently updated on May 2, 1979 (44 FR 25647), is also out of date and incorrect. Current DoD policies are publicly available in the Financial Management Regulation Volume 7A, Chapter 36, Payments on Behalf of Deceased Members, at https://comptroller.defense.gov/Portals/45/documents/fmr/current/07a/07a_36.pdf. This removal supports a recommendation of the DoD Regulatory Reform Task Force. |
