Title: Development of Regulatory Requirements for Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPRs) Intended for Use in Healthcare | |
Abstract:
Although respirator manufacturers have made significant technical advances in Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPRs) design, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) regulatory requirements for industrial use units limit the introduction of smaller, light-weight PAPRs specific for healthcare use. Accordingly, NIOSH proposes to issue alternative regulatory requirements for PAPRs intended to meet the special needs of healthcare workers, thereby providing respirator manufacturers with more product design options to address the needs of this market. |
