Title: International Marriage Brokers | |
Abstract:
This rule would propose to amend the Department of Justice's regulations pursuant to section 833 of the International Marriage Broker Act of 2005 (IMBRA) and section 808 of the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2013. Under IMBRA, international marriage brokers (IMBs) doing business in the United States are required to provide certain information to persons recruited for matchmaking and are prohibited from disclosing certain information about such persons. This rule would establish procedures for adjudicating alleged violations of these provisions. This rule is necessary to deter fraudulent marriages and the exploitation of persons recruited by IMBs. |
