Title: Secretary's Supplemental Priority for Opportunity Zones
Abstract:

The Secretary of Education will establish a final priority for discretionary grant programs that will align the Department of Education’s discretionary grant investments with the Administration’s Opportunity Zones initiative, which aims to spur economic development and job creation in distressed communities.  Through this final priority, the Department seeks to harness the power of Qualified Opportunity Zones to help expand and improve the opportunities available to individuals in these communities. The priority would allow the Department’s discretionary grant programs to seek applications that propose to conduct their projects in an Opportunity Zone, demonstrate that they are physically located in an Opportunity Zone, or demonstrate that they will be able to make use of Opportunity Funds for a purpose directly related to their proposed projects.
