Title: Safeguarding of Restricted Data and Formerly Restricted Data by Federal Employees and Contractors | |
Abstract:
The Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, established authorities for the Department of Energy to grant access and to develop the protection requirements for Restricted Data (RD) and Formerly Restricted Data (FRD). A current regulation (10 CFR 1016) only contains requirements for access permittees. The purpose of this proposed policy is to provide guidance and direction to other government agencies and their contractors regarding requirements for safeguarding RD and FRD. Failure to protect RD or FRD from unauthorized individuals could be detrimental to National Security. |
