Title: ●Regulatory Amendment 33 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Snapper-Grouper Fishery of the South Atlantic Region (Regulatory Amendment 33) | |
Abstract:
NMFS proposes regulations to implement the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council’s Regulatory Amendment 33 to the Snapper-Grouper Fishery Management Plan. Currently for the commercial sector, NMFS opens South Atlantic red snapper harvest and closes it when the commercial annual catch limit is met or projected to be met. For the recreational sector, NMFS announces the length of the recreational season based on the recreational harvest in the previous year. Either sector does not open if NMFS calculates the available days would be three days or less. Regulatory Amendment 33 would remove the minimum number of days (currently four) necessary to open commercial or recreational harvest. |
